2009 Oregon Football Media Day

Just got back from the Duck football media day. Nothing too new came out in the lovefest. It was a lot of “we’re excited for the season, for practice, etc.” Head coach Chip Kelly took a lot of questions about the difference this season from last when Mike Bellotti was in charge but he wasn’t budging on what the differences are. And cornerback Walter Thurmond III said that there really hasn’t been a difference, he thinks it’s been a smooth transition.

The only kind of big news was Kelly saying that there will still be an open competition for quarterback. Many people thought that Jeremiah Masoli had that position on lock down after his performance over the end of last season, but Kelly said that he’s giving Nate Costa and Darron Thomas a fair shot at the job too. Take a look at Monday’s Daily Emerald for full coverage of the day.
