Fresno vs. Oregon Game 1: Fifth Inning 0-0
FSU up.
OK Dusty Robinson up and he takes a pitch deep to the left field line that looked like it might have hit the foul pole for a home run but instead went off the wall and he’s in for a double. That was a rope for FSU and Robinson is up.
Hom grounds out to shortstop KC Serna, who looks back Robinson at second for a smart play and fires to first. One out.
Isaac Vivas up, he got a hit last time off Anderson, who fires a strike on the outside corner on the first pitch. Anderson runs the count to 1-2 one a changeup that has Vivas way ahead of the ball. Anderson, just in case Vivas wanted to cheat in on the plate, brushes the 2B off the plate, 2-2. Slow roller to third and Dylan Gavin fields it with one hand and gets the close play at first. Two outs, runner on third.
Danny Muno up. 1-for-2 on the game. Runner on third and a chance to push him in. Anderson cuffs Muno on an inside pitch for the strikeout. Big cheers from the crowd.
OREGON up.
Darrell Hunter up, 0-for-1 on the day, but he swings on the first pitch and grounds out to SS. One out. He seems to be jumping on every pitch he sees; nervous? He’s taken about 3 pitches all day.
Dylan Gavin run it 0-1, shows bunt but takes it back second pitch ball. Sun’s stickin’ around PK today… and the crowd seems to be limbering up a little bit. Or is that the beer garden? 2-2 count for Gavin now, hits it to third base and he’s out on a close play. Two outs.
Danny Pulfer, the 2nd baseman pokes it over the head of shortstop Muno who can’t jump high enough for the ball. Man on first now with two outs and Tommasini up.
Tommasini takes a bad cut at the first pitch changeup. There’s a little bit of a scoring misstep here at PK with some people, and Jeff Smith is trying to feed us some bad intel. Tommasini another bad swing and he’s down 2-2 before fouling off the pitch to his own dugout. Tomm. has it to a full count, and runner goes as Tomm.s dribbler gets him into a close call at first that looked like he was safe, but was called out. Crowd gets fired up about it and Joe Giansante behind us makes it known to anybody who wants to listen that “that’s the wrong call!”
0-0 after five.
