The Beavs steal one in Berkeley, and what does this mean for the Ducks?
The Beavers game against Cal last night wasn’t on TV, and for good reason, right?
Uh, maybe not after all. What I thought, and what most thought (I would believe) was that Cal, tied for first in the Pac-10, would roll over OSU, whose unthinkable win against USC in the first weekend of Pac-10 play was looking more and more like the unexpected win it was. But this was even bigger. The Beavs, whose coach Craig Robinson must still be riding a high from Tuesday’s inauguration of brother-in-law Barack Obama as President and his sister Michelle as First Lady, stunned Cal 69-65 for their second win in the league this season.

South of the Bay Area in Palo Alto, there were much choppier waters for the other Oregon school.
Oregon played so dreadful, losing 40-18 at half and finishing with a 77-55 loss — oh by the way Oregon still hasn’t won in Maples Pavilion since 1986 — that Ernie Kent said his lineup would have to be shaken up to get things going in the first half.
Can anyone say an all-freshman starting lineup? It’s not out of the question. At this point in the season, there shouldn’t be too much that surprises us anymore, whether it’s from Corvallis or Eugene.
