Eugene police responded to a report of shots fired from a house in the 2700 block of Fairmount Boulevard Monday afternoon. Dozens of officers swarmed the quiet residential neighborhood while others worked to secure a perimeter, blocking traffic just east of the University. Residents of surrounding houses were evacuated to safer areas, including neighbors’ garages. Upon investigation, a 51-year-old man was found dead as a result of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Michael Ciaglo is a junior transfer student originally from Boulder, Colorado.
