Fire on Hilyard

Eugene Fire Department personnel responded to a house fire that caused an estimated $25,000 of damage at 1644 Hilyard St. tonight, shortly before 8 p.m. Officials at the scene did not know the exact cause of the fire, but said a heater located too close to a bed may have sparked the second-story blaze, which spread into the wall. The residents were not home at the time of the incident and there were no reported injuries.
