UO Celebrates Earth Day
Students swarmed through the University’s Earth Day celebration at the EMU, attracted by sunny afternoon weather, more than 20 energetic campus groups and environmental advocacy organizations, and the solar-powered music of local band Rare Monk. The group performed a diverse variety of tunes for the crowd of curious students sitting on the amphitheater steps – everything from their own high-powered, violin-fueled headbangers to a lilting cover of Bob Marley.
Franklin Fire
A fire broke out near 975 Franklin St. Tuesday afternoon around 3 p.m. The fire, just behind Louie’s Village Chinese restaurant, spread from the the building to a set of garages next door. Smoke crept its way across campus.
