Best (and worst) of the internet

I’ve been thinking about this idea for awhile “The best and worst of the internet” on a weekly basis where I point out what’s funny, what’s new, and what’s terribad on the world-wide-intarwebz. I’ll try to do five things and keep it hillarious:

1. A school is caught using cameras in school-issued laptops to spy on students when they aren’t at school. One young man was caught doing something “inappropriate” and a photo was taken as proof. ‘Nuff said, and don’t worry, the photo isn’t included here, this is the news article.

2. The rare and elusive “spinning ice disk” caught in the wild on camera! Not all that exciting, but definitely a natural wonder if you’re into that sort of thing: View the Youtube video here.

3.  Ever heard of the Linux Action Show? Me either until now, as it’s coming back after a seven month hiatus. Check out the backlogs here. On Feb. 20 at 5 p.m. PST it will return at the aforementioned link. “Will we talk about Maemo/Moblin/MeeGo, open source NVidia drivers with 3D acceleration and the latest Linux Distro releases? Oh hells yes,” say the show’s creators.

4. What worst of the internet wouldn’t be complete without the lolcat of the day? Apparently these are still funny.

Better yet, why was this cat dressed as a Taco? If only it were, it is a very poor photoshop job, though I don’t know why the taco looks so fake.

5. Google CEO Eric Schmidt says: “We can literally know everything if we want to,” in regards to personal information, amidst a cornucopia of privacy-invasion lawsuits from around the world. Definitely the worst of the internet for the week. Read it here.

Well, that’s all for this weeks, folks. And remember: Enjoy your internet responsibility.

Something tells me that cat might not survive too long if it wandered into downtown Eugene in that outfit. There are some pretty hungry mallrats down there.
