Oregon women ahead of Portland, 49-32, at halftime

Forwards Amanda Johnson and Victoria Kenyon are leading the Ducks’ scoring barrage against a Portland team that has tested Oregon’s press defense at length tonight.

Johnson has 15 points, four rebounds and two steals at the half, while Kenyon has already tied a career high in scoring with 11 points.

Portland guard Laiken Dollente leads the Pilots with 14 points and four rebounds.

Oregon has forced 14 turnovers while committing just seven, scoring 17 points off those turnovers. The Ducks are also passing the ball well, accumulating 13 assists on 18 made baskets. Portland has five assists on 10 made baskets.

The Ducks are shooting 50 percent from both inside (18-36) and outside (6-12) the arc, but Taylor Lilley’s five missed three-point field goals have brought that last number down. The Pilots are shooting 34.5 percent from the field (34.5 percent), including 37.5 percent (3-8) from three-point range.

Portland does hold a slim lead in the rebounding battle (21 to 18) but the Ducks have more second chance points (11 to 3), indicating a greater level of efficiency.

Stay tuned for ODE Sports Reporter Patrick Malee’s recap in tomorrow’s paper.
