Ducks take fourth set 25-21, match 3-1

The Ducks finally finished off the Beavers in four sets despite an otherworldly performance by Rachel Rourke. The senior finished with 36 kills, and basically carried the team through each of the four sets. Yet, it still was not enough to stop a red-hot Sonja Newcombe and the Ducks. Newcombe finished with 29 kills, 14 digs, and a .364 hitting percentage. On a day when Neticia Enesi, Heather Meyers, and Katherine Fischer were not at the top of their games, Newcombe’s performance truly made the difference for the Ducks. Oregon is now 5-5 in the Pacific-10 Conference, and this win is particularly satisfying after a tough weekend in Southern California and a stunning loss one month ago to the Beavers in Corvallis.
