Blount Reinstatement

Oregon head coach Chip Kelly announced this morning that senior running back LeGarrette Blount may have an opportunity to be reinstated prior to the conclusion of the 2009 season.

Blout, who was suspended following his post-game actions in the Ducks season-opener against Boise St. on Sept. 3, has continued to practice with the team and will possibly have a chance to play again on Nov. 7 when Oregon travels to Stanford.

“He has a rigid set of conditions he must live up to,” Kelly said. “And there are certainly no guarantees in place.”

Kelly also said that he spent a lot of time with professionals who have dealt with situations like this before in Dr. Harry Edwards and Tony Dungy, as well as Oregon Athletic Director Mike Bellotti and University President Richard Lariviere. And after much thought, Kelly decided that “leaving the door open for LeGarrette’s potential return as an active player was the best solution.”

Kelly made it very clear that he is not reinstating Blount at this time, but if he is able to meet the conditions they both agreed upon then he may have a chance to play in an Oregon uniform once again.

Only if UO students want him back. He has a history of recklessness. If you want him to represent you, He needs to grow up and understand this gameis intense to the fans as well as the players\staff. All of your actions are viewed by all, including kids, peers and your new beautiful child. Time to mount up big boy. I hope he sees the field. Peace to all Steveo… Go Boise St.
