Marisnick to bypass the Ducks

UO baseball recruit Jake Marisnick has decided to go professional instead of playing for the Ducks. According to his twitter page http://twitter.com/jakemarisnick, he said: “the deal is done. it’s official.” A little bit later he wrote: “Thx to everyone for the support. Hope we get the other guys signed. It was a tough call to Oregon coaches. Great school/great coaches.”

As reported by Baseball America, Marisnick was given a $1 million signing bonus by the Toronto Blue Jays for being drafted in the third round. He’s an outfielder from Riverside, California.

Look back tomorrow for coach George Horton’s reaction, as I will be sitting down to talk with him about the signings of the rest of the recruits and former player Caleb Tommasini and his future.
