Four UO baseball players not to return

Erik Stavert, Bennett Whitmore, Riley Bevill and Colby Sokol are all not coming back for the 2010 baseball season. Stavert, who was drafted in the seventh round by the Colorado Rockies, decided to go pro earlier this month, according to the Oregonian’s Jeff Smith. Whitmore, who was 1-6 with a 6.17 ERA last year for the Ducks, was drafted by the Seattle Mariners and has yet to sign, however, he told head coach George Horton he will not return for his senior year in Eugene.

Sokol and Bevill will both transfer to junior colleges to continue to play.
