Sen. Dodds resigns

Student Senator Benjamin Dodds tendered his resignation today. They’re dropping like flies, so I guess now I’m going to have to find out what big buzzing insect zapper is causing all the political fatalities. Here’s a copy of the e-mail Dodds sent to Summer Student Senate Chair Nick Gower to announce his stepping down:

I need to resign as senate seat #8 on the ACFC. I am not academically stable enough to commit nearly the time required to be the senator that the students expected me to be. I need to focus more of my time the foundation of my life in my schooling. I’m terribly sorry that I took this opportunity and could not produce.

One Response to Sen. Dodds resigns

What actually sucks about all these resignations is the fact that those of us who have expressed interest in serving and lost elections are left out in the cold. If you don’t actually know what you’re getting into, then leave the hard work up to those of us who actually want to do it. This just shows how needlessly politicized the process has become. Instead of getting people together who want to serve, we get four slates full of candidate’s unqualified and barely interested friends clogging up the system. Now the executive has to make enough appointments to keep her busy until the end of her term, basically making that pointless election from the spring even more pointless.
