Oregon currently leads Florida, 54 to 30, with only the men’s 4x400m relay left. The Ducks, who entered the day in the lead with 23 points, have been bolstered by Ashton Eaton’s heptathlon victory, Galen Rupp’s 3,000m victory, and a second-place finish by Andrew Wheating in the men’s 800m. (Ironically, Wheating finished second to Jacob Hernandez of Texas, who beat him by .01 at the 2008 NCAA outdoor championships.) Matthew Centrowitz also finished sixth in the mile to give Oregon additional points.
The Duck women sit tied for eighth at present with their 4x400m relay remaining; Oregon does have a team entered and could add another couple of points to their cache.
The Oregon men’s championship is the 16th national title in school history.
