Santa Clara vs. Oregon 3/7/09 Game 1 thread

Top 5, 1-1 – Parra groundout to Pulfer at second; Long struck out swinging; Abraham  walks – This press box is getting soaked, blog over.

Bottom 4, 1-1 – Rodriguez struck out swinging at a 2-2 curveball in the dirt; Karraker struck out swinging and Serna did too.

Top 4, 1-1 – Karcich grounded out to Adamson at third then Klein sent one back up the middle for a single but was caught stealing two pitches later. Wagner walked, then Fuerst singled to left for two on, two out again for the Broncos. Herbst flied out to Tommasini in left to end the threat.

Bottom 3, 1-1 – Pulfer led off with a groundout to short; Tommasini looked at strike three; Raulinaitis flied out to center. 

Top 3, 1-1 – Stavert struck out Herbst and Parra grounded out to Pulfer at second. Long walked on four pitches and Abraham singled to left for two on with two out, then Medica struck out. 

Bottom 2, 1-1 – DH Andrew Schmidt grounded out to second; Jett Hart flied out to right-center; John Adamson got the start today at 3B and struck out swinging in his first plate appearance of the season. 

Top 2, 1-1 – Klein struck out but took first on the passed ball, then Wagner hit into a 4-3-6 double play where Pulfer went to first for one and Rodriguez threw down to Serna at second for the tag out. Fuerst grounded out to Serna.

Bottom 1, 1-0 – Caleb Tommasini led off with a single to left and advanced on a groundout to second by Curtis Raulinaitis; Tommasini stole third  as Eddy Rodriguez struck out then Mitch Karraker singled to right, tying the game 1-1. KC Serna flied out to center to end the inning.  

Top 1, 0-0 – Bronco leadoff hitter Matt Long worked  to a full count then went yard to right center for the 1-0 lead. Oregon righty starter Erik Stavert then struck out the next three.
