First Inning, 0-0. Fresno vs. Oregon Game 1

Two outs here, after Tyler Anderson allowed a single up the middle then picked the batter off. He retired the second hitter before Jake Johnson hit a pop fly right onto the roof of the press tent.

Anderson ran the count to full, the third batter of the inning to get such a treatment.

Johnson then flew out to shortstop KC Serna.

Fresno State doesn’t score a run in the top half.

PA announcer Don Essig has said a couple times that anybody who catches a foul ball over the age of 15 during the game should give the ball to a kid. It’s the first game, Don, let everyone take home a keepsake.

Oregon takes its first swings. Caleb Tommasini hits a shot down the third base line but it’s caught by 3B Mendonca.

Curtis Raulinaitis up and the center fielder, left-handed hitter ran the count to 1-2 before roping a shot down the right field foul line, fair, that put him on sccond with a double.

Oregon Daily Emerald alum and Oregonian scribe Jeff Smith sitting next to us in the press box. We get a “Hi ODE” before he digs into his own blogging.

KC Serna pops a fly ball down the right field line foul that can’t be reached for an out. Serna flies out to first. Two outs.

Mitch Karraker  strikes out on three straight pitches. End of the first, and it’s 0-0.
