Last night, I missed much of the PFC hearing to attend a board meeting for the Emerald. It was wrenching. The newspaper industry is ailing, though considering you’re reading a blog right now, I assume you already knew that. Though these things are always clad in optimism, it felt to me like a hospice service.
Fortunately, the internet is the future and here I am in my hover car.
Of course, board meetings always contain a disproportionate ammount of discussion of board meetings and the politics thereof. And in this case, that included a bit about the ASUO. That included our budget hearing. It would be nice, some people said, if we could get a bunch of people in the board room like Campus Recycling did. So I just want to go on record as saying: Hey, I’m bringing doughnuts, or maybe cookies. Please tell me what you’d like. I don’t know when it is–it’s been postponed twice–but when I do, so will you.
I vote for chocolate doughnuts, or maybe ones involving coconut. If you get cookies, don’t get oatmeal raisin. I will be bringing my own Roma coffee to accompany your snacks. Tell me when it is; I’m going to drag the whole newsroom with me.
I’ll drag some friends in too.
If you bring donuts, I will be there. Hell, I’ll cover it for KWVA.
