Second Quarter: Oregon 37, Oregon State 17

4:54 p.m.: During the play break, it was said that the game time temperature of 62 degrees was the highest for a Civil War since temperature began being recorded in 1991. The 17 first-quarter points allowed by Oregon State is also the most Oct. 2, 2004 for the Beavers, when they allowed 21 to Cal.

5:03 p.m. After a long drive that started with 1:47 left in the first quarter, Oregon State could not capitalize on their drive as Justin Kahut missed a 21-yard field goal with 11:04 remaining in the second quarter. Oregon takes over at their own 20-yard line. After a pass interference penalty on Jeremiah Johnson for pushing off in the end zone, Oregon kicked a 22-yard field goal (by Flint) to put the score at 20-7 Oregon.

5:10 p.m.: Oregon is on the Beaver 5-yard line and looking to score again, and Jeremiah Johnson has 6 carries for 102 yards already. Oregon got here because of a 20-yard scramble by Masoli to the Beaver 47, then a 36-yard pass from Masoli to Ed Dickson.

5:21 p.m.: Oregon used a long return and horse-collar penalty on kicker Matt Evensen to start the Beavers’ drive on the Duck 34-yard line. Six plays later, Justin Kahut redeemed himself from his missed 22-yard field goal on the Beavers’ last drive to make it 20-10 with 5:41 remaining in the second quarter.

5:28 p.m.: Oregon scores a field goal again to make it 23-10 with 2:13 left in the second, but it is again the story of missed chances inside the 20-yard line for Oregon. As on its previous drive that ended with a Flint field goal, the Ducks handed the ball to Jeremiah Johnson several times inside the 10 that either lost yardage or gained little. Where is Blount on a play like that? Bellotti will absolutely be asked that afterward.

5:38 p.m.: The Ducks got the ball back after a failed Beaver drive that lasted four plays. Even after running six plays and starting from their own 10, the Ducks have barely gotten past their 20-yard line. OSU has used all three timeouts to keep some time on the clock, which they will have.

UPDATE: Jeremiah Johnson 83-yard touchdown run, where he evaded somewhere in the vicinity of a half dozen tackles. He now has 203 yards on 12 carries, easily a career high in the first half.

5:46 p.m.: On the Beavers’ first play from scrimmage on their next drive, Oregon’s Walter Thurmond ran an interception back 40 yard for a score to make it 37-10 Oregon with 43 seconds remaining.

5:49 p.m.: Oregon State on the offensive, scoring in 26 seconds on a 11-yard pass play to a wide-open Shane Morales in the back of the end zone to make it 37-17 Oregon. Very impressive drive that started on the Beavers’ 47 yard line. It is the Beavers’ 22nd touchdown this season on a drive of five plays or less, which ties them for seventh in the nation.
