The Cardinal took the first set from the Ducks, going on an 8-3 run after the score was tie at 17. The game, which started at 7 p.m. is the first of two matches against ranked opponents for Oregon, who plays No. 7 California on Friday night.
Cynthia Barboza and Alix Lineman led Stanford with five kills each, while Gorana Maricic had five kills for Oregon.
The Ducks were done in by their own errors. They had nine hitting errors in the first set, and they hit a lowly .143 to Stanford’s .324. Oregon did keep it close until the last eight points, but the lack of Stanford mistakes didn’t give the Ducks many opportunities to go on a run.
