Media day the day after

Yesterday was Oregon men’s basketball’s media day, meaning the first day of practice is today at Mac Court. Here’s Kevin Hudson’s story about it. With media day came a lot of fresh faces. Well six to be exact, from a highly touted freshman class.

Coach Ernie Kent tried his best to temper expectations of the whole thing, saying that he doesn’t want to put undue expectations on this class (perhaps learning from the underwhelming careers of the last ‘greatest class’ that graduated last season?). Maybe it was fitting then that the media day was held downstairs in Mac Court, with players ducking low pipes and doorways and media members bumping into each other in the small space. We only got one chance to see what they looked like on the court in an Oregon uniform, and that was for the team picture.

Kent was clear on who his leaders are. I took that angle in today’s sidebar story about media day.

Enjoy a Duck football-less weekend, everybody.
