Rupp running Saturday

Oregon’s Galen Rupp will run this Saturday at the Mike Hodges Invitational in Clackamas, Ore., at Clackamas Community College. The women will run at noon, and the men follow at 12:45 p.m. It’s not surprising that Rupp, an eight-time All-American, holds the Hodges course record of 18 minutes, 40 seconds over the four-mile course.

It will be Rupp’s first race of the season after skipping the Pre’s Trail Run and the Bill Dellinger Invitational.

The last time the Portland native run was in Beijing at the 2008 Olympics. He was the fastest non-African runner in the 10,000m final, finishing 13th.

In case you missed it, Rupp qualifying for the Olympics was a big deal in Eugene this summer.
