Football's weekly team awards and notes from Tuesday's practice

It’s bye week at Oregon, which means a more relaxed atmosphere at practice and time for the young guys to get some time at practice they wouldn’t otherwise see (other than scout team).

That doesn’t mean practice was uneventful, what with Justin Roper declaring himself healthy to play and more of Chris Harper’s evolution at wide receiver.

“Well I’m actually back,” Roper said. “My knee is sturdy enough that the only thing that it takes now is just time. I can run on it. I was actually back to normal last week. I’m not really getting much treament now because it’s really just time that will treat itself.”

Told Bellotti called him around 90 percent healthy, Roper said, “I don’t really care about percentages. If I can play I’m 100 percent.”

At the end, the ODE did a Q&A with everybody’s favorite (defender) hurdling running back, LeGarrette Blount. Look for him in this Thursday’s Daily Emerald for the installment of Athlete of the Week. See what he thinks of Eugene, the track team and what his favorite class is (here’s guessing you won’t get it).

Just in case you missed it yesterday, the ODE took a look at the defensive line, one of the strongest units on the team.

Per Andy McNamara’s blog, the Oregon coaches released their award winners for the UCLA game.
