Oregon ranked second in nation for wind power projects

Today, the American Wind Energy Association deemed Oregon second to Texas nationwide for the amount of wind capacity installed across the state. The state added 251 megawatts of capacity in the third quarter of the year. Ranking number five for wind energy production, Oregon can generate up to 1,659 megawatts of power from currently installed wind turbines, enough to power 480,000 homes. This boost in wind power development could be a result of the September federal stimulus grants awarded to three Eastern Oregon wind farms.
