New Video of Blount Incident with Fans
Here’s a new LeGarrette Blount video I saw on Youtube. A person slowed down the video and pointed out the moment when a fan with a chair was visible right near LeGarrette Blount and then also when another fan hits Blount on the side of the face and neck; just like he said happened.
However, it still doesn’t change the situation. LeGarrette made the first move towards the the fans, and that’s what doomed him. And it still doesn’t negate the fact that he punched Hout and then got into it with his own teammate. But I do think this should also quiet the talk from Boise State fans that they’re innocent in all this. It’s pretty reprehensible that the few fans there on the sideline did decide to act just like Blount did and hit someone…Not to mention the fact that me and two reporters from the Register Guard talked to the guy in the Oregon shirt in the video who can be seen pushing back the BSU fans after the incident and he was beaten up by them for trying to push them away. He ended up with a few scratches and bruises because of it…
Moving on to the future, it is a very good thing that the UO decided to keep Blount around the program instead of kicking him completely off the team and effectively out of the university. He has a decision to make, and with his apologies today to Coach Petersen and Byron Hout, he’s choosing to be responsible. If he continues to graduate I think he will show NFL teams that he can turn over a new leaf. It still doesn’t mean he’ll be drafted high (or at all) but it’s in his best interests to graduate and move on.

First of all, I want to state that this is in no way an unbiased opinion. I, like millions of Americans, watched the poor excuse of a football game Thursday night. I had this date circled on my calendar since late October, and nothing about this game seemed rewarding until Hout got his stupid po-dunk smile smacked off of his face. I’m not trying to compare myself to the highly talented Blount, but everything that I have felt for the pathetic team in blue got relayed to reality when the right cross was delivered. This bad blood had developed a year ago, and I didn’t agree with the bulletin board material that been published in Sports Illustrated. On the other hand, Boise State knew that when the “sucker punch” to Masoli was issued in 2008 that Oregon owed them an “A**Whupin” anyway. So nothing new was learned from any Idahoan upon the SI issue. All Ducks and Broncos were aware of the justice that was due. I can only hope the U of O Offensive Line takes it upon themselves to right the wrong. What a poor excuse of Duck Standards. This isn’t Portland St., but maybe that lies upon recruiting or their lack of knowledge of history and expectance of standards at this institution. I do recognize the abundance of talent that was plucked away from the NFL draft, but at the same time, how many years were they aware of the players leaving at the end of last year?
And Upon this Blog, Hout has yet to be disciplined as far as missing games, which, in my opinion is Atrocious and Saddening. And the more I read of U of O Alumni calling this year long suspension “well deserved” and saying “good riddance” is completely horse sh!t. All I can think is Kelly trying to deflect blame for the worst performance that many alumni can recall in probably a decade if not longer. I can only try to recall every other moment I’ve seen an Athlete snap against better judgement and “Rage Against The Opposition,” put myself in their situation, and try to empathize with that level of hostility as if I was in the same situation. In this case, it actually felt as if I was wearing that green nine upon my chest and back (and not just because I actually was wearing the number nine at the the time). If LeGarrette had just put his head back down after being slapped (I’m tired of reading “slapped” reported as “touched” because the euphemism is horsesh!t) on the shoulder and had continued walking to the locker room, I would personally have been arrested for breaking every chair and table within sight and then punching anybody trying to restrain me inside the Las Colinas Boston’s Gourmet Pizza Restaurant. I waited for three hours for a Duck to retaliate against a single Bronco, and it was only after the time clock read triple zeroes that I finally applauded. Was Blount wrong? Yes. Was Chode Hout Wrong? I don’t think there is a human that witnessed the incident that could possibly say no. Did Blount say his team owed the broncos an “AssWhup!n? Yes. Was he wrong with that statement? Not one bit.
Football is a very visible and violent sport, and this new Youtube sensation was a violent act that everyone viewing at home, in the stadium, or at any venue featuring this nationally televised event could not take his or her eyes away from. In my opinion, the injustice was Hout being only punched once, and the suspension that will last the remainder of Blount’s college career. Blount was not innocent in this act of rage, nor was he a victim or the instigator. Yet he is the only one who has taken blame for the post game scuffle. Blount is a 22 year-old kid that has made multiple bad decisions, like almost every single kid in the history of time. Blount was angry when the final whistle blew, like every other Oregon player and fan that had invested time on said night. Blount was pissed at his performance. Blount was pissed at the play calling. Blount was pissed at his brand new head coach. Blount was attempting to walk to the locker room to put this night behind him when Chode Hout slapped him on the shoulder and taunted him 6 inches in front of his face, and I, as an Oregon Fan from Dallas, Texas, applaud his reaction. So to anybody that ever feels they can get in the face of the Green & Yellow: just know that dropping to your knees is what will follow next. Period. Ducks are mean. Period.
Let me just say this, if LGB is being punished so severely and people are calling for criminal charges to be brought against him, then someone needs to find the “man” who slapped him and the guy wielding a chair and arrest them for assault. Also, there is no way Hout does not deserve to be suspended for at least 1 game. Blount punishment was WAY to harsh. Shouldn’t have been any longer than 4 games. This whole situation just breathes hypocrisy, from UO, from BSU, from the NCAA, but especially from the fans who criticize LGB so severely, without full knowledge of the situation. Everyone criticizing LGB is stuck on their high horses and thinking their sh*t don’t stink, well sorry to inform you it does. I can’t stand judgmental people and this incident has brought to my attention how fu**ked our society is. I feel physically sick about this and plan on writing a letter to the new UO president and to Mike Bellotti asking for Blount’s sentence to be reduced. I think UO’s overreaction to the situation is more embarrassing for the program than the punch itself.
FREE LGB
Go Ducks
Hout should be suspended as well? For saying to Blount “who got the ass-whooping”? If that is the standard, then Blount should have not played in the game in the first place…
I hope the Ducks win all of the rest of their games…
