ASUO executive staff
The names of the ASUO executive staff that took office today:
Chief of Staff: Ella Barrett, Barrett was heavily involved in Emma Kallaway’s campaign and the two are good friends. “She’s the most kind-hearted person I know,” Kallaway said.
Elections Coordinator: Braden Wolf. Wolf ran for Senate seat 19 on True Blue. Lindsay Reichardt eventually won the seat. The outgoing elections coordinator, Aaron Tuttle, was heavily abused for his decisions during the election, and I asked Wolf why anyone would want the job. “For a lot of students, the first experience that they have of the ASUO is in the spring (when elections are held),” he said. “It’s going to dictate their involvement or lack of involvement.” He said he wanted to bring professionalism to the job. “He’s professional to a T,” Kallaway said of Wolf, who wears business suits at all times.
Public Relations Coordinator: Curtis Haley. Haley, who has no relation to Kallaway’s general election opponent Michelle Haley, ran on the True Blue slate for Senate seat 8, not advancing beyond the primary election in a race that was won by Ben Dodds. Haley also served as the slate’s spokesman. Kallaway praised his experience in public relations.
University Liason: Rachel Adams. Adams was a Kallaway supporter in the recent election. She will be in charge of sitting on committees that advise the University. Kallaway praised her “political mindset” and commitment to women’s issues.
Legislative Affairs Coordinator: Rachel Cushman, a senior who is heavily involved in legislative action. Cushman ran for Senate seat 4 in the 2008 election, losing to Tyler Scandalios. This time around, she was a campaign chair for Students First. Kallaway praised her passion and involvement in the Native American Student Union.
Legislative Affairs Coordinator: Robert Greene. Greene ran for ASUO Senate seat 15 on the True Blue slate, a race won by Kristine Jensen. He has been involved in the ASUO since he arrived as a freshman in 2009, despite only holding a position for one term. “He just worked his ass off,” Kallaway said.
Outreach Coordinator: Andrew Crampton. Crampton ran for Senate seat 7 in 2008 and was campaign manager for Students First this year. He said he has a passion for outreach.
Events Coordinator: Amelie Rousseau, another Kallaway supporter who ran unsuccessfully for the Senate seat now occupied by Paige Libadisos. She will oversee the ASUO Street Faire. “Amelie is an incredibly intelligent woman from the Honor’s College,” Kallaway said.
Programs Administrator: Conrad Huben, a former OSPIRG board member who sat in front of the group’s budget hearings. He is also a former ASUO intern who supported Kallaway in the election. Kallaway said he is “young but incredibly passionate.”
Gender and Sexual Diversity Advocate: Sinjin Carey, a freshman who said he supported Kallaway during the election, though he did not campaign for her. Carey is a newcomer to the ASUO, though he has been involved in the campus LGBTQA, and Kallaway said she would be excited to work with him.
Multicultural Advocate: Diego Hernandez, a former ASUO senator who was on the campaign committee for Students First. Hernandez was heavily involved in Carina Miller’s campaign and early rumors suggested he would be her running mate before she chose Nick Gower instead. “Diego has a history like I’ve never seen,” Kallaway said.
