Fresno vs. Oregon #2 Game thread

Hey folks, this is Ben Schorzman reporting from PK Park. I’ll keep a running thread from today’s game. Updated randomly as we see fit. No pitch by pitch, just important plays…

The Ducks are in the middle of a scoring rally right now. After a scoreless first inning by both teams, the Ducks came out in the bottom of the second and strung together a sacrifice fly to right field by Danny Pulfer to score Eddy Rodriguez, and then Caleb Tommasini hit a single to left center field to score Colby Sokol from third base. 2-0 Ducks after two innings.

There’s another big crowd today, and the rain that was promised has not arrived. It’s actually a little bit warmer then yesterday too…

Top of the third, FSU up

Shortstop Danny Muno hit a one-run homerun to left center field off of Stavert. The ball landed just to the right of the video board. It was a really hard it ball. No doubt about it.

Wise  then singled, but nothing happened because Stavert got out of the inning with a ground ball to KC Serna.

Bottom of the third, DUCKS up

Ducks have something going again in the bottom of the inning. Mitch Karraker and Eddy Rodriguez both got on, Karraker by a single and Rodriguez walked. Then Colby Sokol moved them over to second and third with a sacrifice bunt. No outs.

Bonesteele then walked Jett Hart to load the bases with one out. Fresno State went to the bullpen, getting righty Matt Morse.

First pitch from Morse, and Dylan Gavin ropes a single to right field, scoring two! Then Danny Pulfer push bunts and no one is covering first base. Hart scores on the play, 5-1 ducks. and people on first and second with one out.

Tommasini got hit, so now there’s bases loaded and one out. Raulinaitis struck out, and Serna grounded out to the pitcher. inning over, 5-1 Ducks.

TOP OF THE FOURTH FSU up

Stavert strikes out Gavin Hedstrom for the third out. 1-2-3 inning.

DUCKS up

New pitcher Derek Benny on the mound for the Bulldogs. He’s a right hander. On the first pitch to Mitch Karraker, he sends it to right field for a lead off single. Nothing going though, and the Ducks end the inning

TOP OF THE FIFTH, FSU up

Detwiler gets on by a single, but the Bulldogs strand a runner at third after Stavert strikes out Kenny Wise to end the threat.

DUCKS up

Ducks go down quietly. 1-2-3, with Tommasini striking out to end the inning.

TOP OF THE SIXTH, FSU up

It starts to sprinkle, and we are out in the open. No more live blogging until it stops! My computer doesn’t handle water well lol

Ducks get out of the sixth with a tailor made, 3-6-3 double play after the lead off batter, Ahmady hit a triple to deep center field.

RECAP OF THE SIXTH AND SEVENTH

The Ducks get a run in the sixth off of a Curtis Raulinaitis triple, Karraker drove him in with a ground out to the second baseman.

The Ducks struck again in the seventh with an RBI single from Curtis Tommasini. Dylan Gavin scored after being hit by a pitch. 7-1 Ducks going into the eighth inning.

Sorry for the delay. The rain abated, but technical difficulties stopped us from posting…

DUCKS WIN 7-1. Madison Boer came into to close out the ninth inning. After giving up a lead off single, he got a web gem from centerfielder Curtis Raulinaitis. He dove to his right and caught the hard hit ball right before it hit the turf. Boer then struck out the next two Bulldogs for the last outs of the game.

Game tomorrow starts at 1 p.m. weather permitting. See you then.
