Fresno vs. Oregon Game 1: Fourth Inning 0-0
FSU up.
Jake Johnson up for FSU. 1-1 count, Anderson delivers and hits it back to the fence, drawing some ‘whoas’ from the crowd. There’s a net there. First time in 28 years, fans fear for a foul ball into their section. Johnson a high fly ball into center and Raulinaitis gets it no problem. One out.
Mendonca grounds out to first. Two outs.
Steve Detwiler up, third hitter in the inning for the Bulldogs. Anderson looking much more comfortable as this game is going on. 0-2 count, but Detwiler gets a ball to drop a step inside of Raulinaitis after he pokes it off the edge of his bat. Man on first for FSU.
Grubb gets the fielder’s choice groundout to second. You can see how it’s the first game in 28 years because with two outs on the groundout a guy yelled out “Turn two!” only to realize….they needed one. Hey, at least they’re into it. Three outs and Ducks are up.
OREGON up.
Mitch Karraker here, stepping in 2-1. The sun is coming out at PK Park. What about the offense? Crowd is a little out of it to be honest with you….until Karraker lines a pitch to deep center that had promise, but ended with an out. One out.
Eddy Rodriguez in. Righty takes the pitch, a strike. Then another. 0-2 from Detwiler, going to be a ball. Hits a shot to third, and even as Mondonca muffs the grounder he gets it back and throw out Rodriguez easily at first, by about 7 feet.
Jett Hart up with two outs. Quick 0-2 count on two pitches. The sun comes out and the students go nuts. And the crowd, too, it’s the only thing that’s positive about this inning for either team as Hart flies out. 0-0 after four.
