First Quarter: Oregon 17, Oregon State 7
4:24 p.m.: Oregon and Oregon State went three-and-out on their first possessions before Jeremiah Masoli completed two crucial third-down conversions to bring Oregon on an 80-yard scoring drive that lasted eight plays. No play was bigger than Masoli’s third-down conversion to Jaison Williams on third and 13 for 35 yards that put the ball on the Oregon State 17 yard line.
4:29 p.m.: Oregon State hurt itself twice on its second drive of the game, with a block in the back penalty negating a first down pass to Ryan Francis from Moevao, then a holding penalty on its own punt. Oregon takes over at the Oregon State 45.
4:36 p.m.: Oregon traveled 24 yards in 2:28, a lifetime for the Duck offense compared to their quick-strike ability all season, but finished with a field goal to make their lead 10-0 behind Morgan Flint’s 38-yard kick. Oregon, as all game, has looked good when it has to be. The Ducks made another third-down conversion on a Masoli to Maehl connection for 19 yards. There was a questionable block in the back that wasn’t called on the play, sending the OSU fans into a panic.
4:40 p.m.: Oregon State moving the ball to Oregon territory with a third-down conversion run by Moevao, then a 24-yard pass to Sammie Stroughter that put the ball on the Oregon 22. After a few plays, Moevao found Jeremy Francis for a 20-yard touchdown pass.
4:48: Was there any doubt Oregon could score quickly? Even after a bye week, their rhythm is looking to be in sync. Jeremiah Johnson ran for 79 yard on the drive’s first play (getting an exceptional lead block from C.E. Kaiser), then Blount finished it witha nine yard touchdown run.
4:53: Oregon State is doing another little drive, poking away at the defense and getting key third-down conversions. The second quarter has just begun.
